BMEcat is the standard format for electronic product catalogues, published by the German Association for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME). Suppliers use it to pass article data, prices and features on to their customers. The format is industry-neutral and widespread in electrical wholesale, technical trade, plumbing and manufacturing.
Mainly in naming: 1.2 uses <ARTICLE> and <SUPPLIER_AID>, 2005 uses <PRODUCT> and <SUPPLIER_PID>. Both versions can be read here, and which one you have is detected automatically.
Catalogues of several hundred megabytes with tens of thousands of products can be opened. The file is read as a stream in small pieces, so it never has to fit into memory as a whole. ZIP archives are unpacked on the fly, so there is no separate unpacking step.
No. The file is read exclusively inside your browser and never leaves your computer. There is no server that receives it, no account and no tracking. That is also why no data-processing agreement is needed — no data is handed to anyone.
ETIM is checked in full against BMEcat Guideline V5.0, optionally against any of the 23 country columns. Catalogues using eCl@ss, UNSPSC or proficl@ss are checked against the BMEcat base standard and reported without ETIM findings. Where several systems sit side by side in one file, the ETIM guideline applies in addition.
